School Policy

The goal of these policies is to help ensure that all students, parents, and teachers are treated fairly so that everyone has an equal opportunity to reach their personal goals without being adversely affected by the actions of others. At Prime School of Music we constantly strive to exceed your expectations and these policies will help to ensure that the quality of service you expect stays at the highest level.

Method of Payment

At the beginning of each registration year the school will require four (4) post-dated cheques which will cover four equal payments for lessons scheduled from September to June. The cheques should be dated September 1st, November 1st, January 1st, and March 1st. If you have pre-registered for the next school year beginning in September, please provide all four (4) cheques prior to August 16th of that year. (A minimum of 2 weeks prior to the starting month of your lessons). Please note, we do not accept month to month payment in any form.

Make up Lessons / Lesson Cancellation Policy

If a lesson is cancelled by your teacher, the missed lesson will be rescheduled for a different time. If a lesson is cancelled by a student there will be no refunds and a makeup lesson will only be arranged if sufficient notice (minimum 24 hours) is given prior to the cancelled lesson. Please be aware that each student is limited to two (2) make up lesson per registration year. The registration year runs from September 1st through August 31st of the following year. If you cancel your make-up lesson in accordence with the given restrictions, a make-up lesson will be arranged for the student up to the allowable maximum. Once this maximum has been reached however no further make up lessons will be provided and lesson fees will not be refunded.

To cancel a lesson, please use the following steps

  1.    Verify that there is a minimum of 24 hours notice available prior to the lesson
2.  Verify that you have not already exceeded the maximum two (2) allowable cancellations for the registration year
3.  Contact your teacher directly to inform them of the cancellation
4.  Leave a message with the school using the information provided on the contact page including details of your agreed arrangements with your teacher

Substitute Teachers

Much like the public school system, on rare occurrences there may be a situation in which a student’s assigned teacher is not available for a specific lesson. In order to keep your schedule on track the school will reserve the right to substitute a qualified teacher for a specific lesson without advanced notice. Every attempt will be made to ensure this does not happen on a frequent basis as we understand that the relationship between the student and their assigned teacher is a very important one.

Discontinuation of Lessons

If you decide to discontinue your lessons for any reason you must provide the school with at least one (1) month notice of your termination date. Any outstanding postdated cheques or prepaid lesson fees will be refunded after your final lesson has completed. As such, there is no need to be concerned regarding pre-payment made for the registration year.

Safety Policy

If a student is dropped off by parents or guardians we ask that they come in to the school to pick them up. We do not want students to leave the building alone. We ask that all parents/guardians comply with this policy to ensure the safety of the students taking lessons at Prime School of Music.
